Can cabling really save a splitting tree?
For a healthy tree with a structural weak point, yes — cables and braces are a long-established arborist technique that reduces strain on a weak fork and the chance of a catastrophic split. A dead or badly decayed tree, though, is a removal, not a candidate.
How long do the cables last?

Will I see the cables?
