Reduce and thin — the right way
Crown reduction is the proper alternative to topping: instead of hacking limbs to stubs, we shorten them back to a suitable lateral so the cut heals and the shape stays natural. Thinning selectively removes interior and crossing branches to let light and wind through without stripping the tree. Done together, they make a big tree far less of a sail in an East Texas storm.
- Lowering overall height & spread
- Selective interior thinning for wind & light
- Deadwood and weak-limb removal
- Reshaping after storm damage or bad past cuts
- Reducing weight over a roof, drive or pool
When reduction beats removal
A heavy, overgrown oak leaning over the house doesn’t always need to go. Often a sound reduction and thinning takes the dangerous weight off, balances the canopy and buys the tree many more good years — for a fraction of removal-and-replant cost. When the structure is genuinely failing, we’ll tell you; when it isn’t, this is the smart, cheaper fix.
